About Us

“from kitchen to high standard processing"
The story of THEDAY Marmalade is one of passion, family, and sustainability. Founded in 2006 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by Yezichalem, a dedicated mother of two boys, the company began as a small kitchen operation. Yezichalem, struggling to find quality snacks for her family, started making homemade jams using fresh, locally sourced fruits and natural ingredients. Her initiative was driven not only by her love for her family but also by a deep understanding of the challenges in the fruit supply chain, especially issues like post-harvest loss.
In an effort to reduce waste and support the local economy, Yezichalem created a business that turns fresh, harvested fruits into long-lasting products like jams, thus helping to prevent fruit from spoiling and going unsold. This dedication to sustainability not only benefits the community but also promotes the efficient use of resources, giving local farmers a chance to thrive.
As demand for her homemade jams grew, Yezichalem expanded her production and, in 2011, officially founded THEDAY Agro Industry PLC.
Today, What started as a small family endeavor soon blossomed into one of Ethiopia’s leading fruit processing companies .Our processing industry is equipped with a high-standard facility that meets international food safety qualifications and adheres to the strictest quality standards. We are committed to using natural, organic ingredients sourced from local farms that prioritize sustainable and non-GMO farming practices. Combining these ingredients with the founder's family recipe, TheDay offers a variety of fruit jams, including our signature flavors: Strawberry, Mango and Passion fruit.
At TheDay, our dedicated team is driven by a shared commitment: “To satisfy our customers through quality products, exceptional service and competitive pricing.” We take immense pride in delivering jams that embody the warmth of homemade goodness and family tradition, with a focus on the highest organic standards.
As we look to the future, TheDay is also well-prepared to expand into the growing market for nutritious, alternative snacks. We are broadening our horizons to produce a variety of dried fruits, providing consumers with high-quality, healthy snacking options that support both nutrition and sustainability.

“we grow together, we thrive together”
Journey of Fruits to Flavor
At TheDay, every jar of jam and every bite of dried fruit tells a story of freshness, sustainability and community impact.
Ethiopia may not be native to strawberries, but it grows some of the world’s most uniquely flavorful varieties year-round. Our trusted commercial farm partners ensure that every strawberry we use is fresh, responsibly grown and bursting with authentic taste.
For mangoes, oranges and pineapples, we turn to the heart of Ethiopia’s farming tradition—smallholder farmers who have cultivated these fruits for generations in diverse agro ecological regions. By sourcing directly from them, we strengthen their livelihoods, promote fair trade and ensure our fruits are farmed with care and sustainability in mind.
At TheDay, sustainability isn’t just a practice—it’s a promise. We are actively engaging with our farmers, promoting Good Agricultural Practices and ensuring our sourcing leaves a lasting, positive impact on both people and the planet.
